Empowering Women and the Next Generation – Gary & Kym Reck
Looking to the Future
Gary says, “Founders Diamond is our goal.” Kym adds, “We have two boys, Logan and Chase. They are our motivation. The economy is uncertain and scary. Our Amway business gives us an opportunity to be our own boss and to take charge of our own schedules. We hope to empower the next generation to become true leaders and embody a better way of life.”
For Generations to Come
Gary Reck had a successful practice as an eye doctor and wasn’t looking for a new career. Kym says, “I was introduced to Amway by my personal trainer.”
Gary recalls her announcement that she was starting an AMWAY business. Kym focused on building a balanced business of retailing, buying product, and sponsoring others to do the same. “Gary wasn’t convinced at first, but I knew that I’d get his attention if I started making money and so I did”, says Kym.
Gary noticed. “Initially, I felt this business was out of my comfort zone, but I recognized that this was a way to supplement our retirement. It took me a long time to give it my all. I’m still a work in progress, but we’re in it together now.”
Kym enjoys focusing on women like herself, “One of my passions has been to help empower women. This business is a tremendous vehicle for that. Many people in this business are single and many of them are women..”
Gary’s passion extends to the next generation, “The era of getting a job and having it guaranteed forever is gone. It’s exciting to teach young people to take control of their own futures. We are here to help build self esteem and success into the next generation.”
“We believe that our success is determined by what we give. Our focus goes far beyond our personal goals. We believe corporate America promotes selfishness, and our Amway business focuses on helping others be successful. That’s the kind of environment that we want our kids to be around.”
The average monthly gross income earned by “active” IBOs was $115 (U.S.)/$181 (CAN.).
The success depicted may reflect income and investments outside the IBO Compensation Plan. Approximately 66% of all IBOs of record were found to be active.* The percentage of IBOs who achieved Founders Executive Diamond and above qualification in FY08 was .00565%.
*Based on an independent survey during 2001, “Active” means an IBO attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended a company or IBO meeting in the year 2000.
“Gross income” means the amount received from retail sales, minus the cost of goods sold, plus the amount of Performance Bonus retained. There may be significant business expenses, mostly discretionary, that may be greater in relation to income in the first years of operation.
