Following leaders and guiding followers – Manmohan & Ritu Jakhwal
Manmohan & Ritu Jakhwal, Sapphire, started business in November 2005, Brampton, Ontario Manu and Ritu Jakhwal discovered in their AMWAY™ business that there’s more to success than a good salary, vacation plan, and company benefits.
Manu says, “I was as a quality engineer in the pharmaceutical industry. I had responsibility, accountability, and a good salary. Even so, I wasn’t in control of my compensation or my promotions. Job security wasn’t there either. When I signed up to become an IBO I knew I needed something more.”
At first it didn’t seem like something she could do. Ritu had her hands full taking care of their newborn daughter (Yana is now 5). She was an extremely shy person by nature and certainly not interested in selling anything. Looking back Ritu says it really didn’t take much to change her attitude, once she made up her mind, “Manu wanted to do it, and he’s never been one to back down. Our mentors were understanding, patient, and consistent. Then I fell in love with the ARTISTRY® beauty products. That changed everything for me.”
The more Ritu invested of herself in their business, the more she liked it. Manu says he believes in following the basics, but he does that with more intensity than most people. The two of them have found their perfect balance in working together. They enjoy how positive everyone is and how the business strengthens bonds of friendship and marriage.
With the recent birth of their second child, Ritu reflects, “I’m very happy, because as IBOs we can make our own choices about our life. It would be a big struggle for me to leave my kids if I worked outside of the home. Manu and I both want to be home.”
Manu adds, “It’s such a privilege we have in this business to be able to choose our own hours, decide how much we want to work, and where we want to take our business.”
The average monthly gross income earned by “active” IBOs was $115 (U.S.)/$181 (CAN.).
The percentage of IBOs who achieved Double Diamond and above qualification in FY08 was .0038%.
Based on an independent survey during 2001, approximately 66% of all IBOs of record were found to be active. “Active” means an IBO attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended a company or IBO meeting in the year 2000.
“Gross Income” means the amount received from retail sales, minus the cost of goods sold, plus the amount of Performance Bonus retained. There may be significant business expenses, mostly discretionary, that may be greater in relation to income in the first years of operation. The success depicted may reflect income and investments outside the IBO Plan.
