A knock on the door changed their lives – When José Arteaga answered the knock at the door and learned the man there wanted to show him a business prospect, his ears perked up.
“I’d been praying for a fresh start,” he explains, “and a few days later, my sponsor arrived on my doorstep.”

Mary, who worked at a dry cleaner, rarely saw him after she picked up the boys (Gumaro, 15, and Favián, 11) from school. “We’d been separated three times and I was beginning to realize the way we were living wasn’t good for the kids,” says José. “I was determined to change.”
As their business grew, José realized his initial three goals: “For Mary not to have to work, for me to be home with my wife and kids, and for us to never again depend upon employment.”
