Celebrating a New Lifestyle – Mabel Jong starts each day checking email from her cozy home office in her new home on Long Island. She, along with her husband and two kids, are enjoying the community’s peace and quiet, excellent schools, parks, and family activities. It’s quite a contrast from their old home in Brooklyn.
As Mabel reflects on her family’s lifestyle today, she says it’s much different now. “Amway is how we changed our life. Because of Amway, we have the ability to save for our kids to go to a good college. We were able to move out of the city and into this beautiful home. With Amway, we are confident in our future. We know if we continue to work hard, we have a future in this business.”
After graduating from college, Mabel worked a number of traditional jobs, but not with the same sense of satisfaction she has today. She explains, “I never knew what the next day would bring. There were always problems to solve, overtime required. I missed my kids. I had been an Amway customer and IBO for a time, though never serious about the business side.”
Still, today Mabel combines her job as a printers’ representative serving the restaurant industry with her AMWAY™ business. She says, “I have a client list and a routine of visiting customers. When I visit a restaurant to sell printing, everyone from wait staff to manager gather around to talk about AMWAY products, about what’s new, or do I have samples to try. Showing up regularly, talking about and sharing samples give me opportunities to help people get to know and love our products.”

Mabel talks of her pride in how united her team is. They support each other in every way, learning together, sharing office space and shipments. “When I go out of town, I know I can rely on IBOs to step in and get products to my customers. If a customer needs products right away and an IBO doesn’t have it, someone will rush in to help out. This way of working ensures our customers are always happy. So we are all winners.”
Mabel ends with this message, “I’m so proud of all of our products from NUTRILITE® to ARTISTRY®. And just like the products, once people get to know what it’s like to be an AMWAY business owner and they start to find success in it, they love it!”
The average monthly Gross Income for “active” IBOs was $202.
Approximately 46% of all IBOs were active.
U.S. IBOs were considered “active” in months in 2010 when they attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway IBO Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended an Amway or IBO meeting. “Gross Income” means the amount received from retail sales, minus the cost of goods sold, plus monthly bonuses and cash incentives. It excludes all annual bonuses and cash incentives, and all non-cash awards. There may be significant business expenses, mostly discretionary, that may be greater in relation to income in the first years of operation.
