Mabel Jong – Emerald

New York

Like many immigrants, Mabel Jong and her husband Jacky are no strangers to hard work. “He owns a restaurant and also works as a sushi chef on the side,” she says.

Mabel, whose background is in sales and marketing, owns a company specializing in the printing and delivery of menus. She often networks for her AMWAY ™ business while making deliveries. “I can wear two hats at the same time!” says this energetic mother of two (Jevons, 9, and Brittney, 8).

Mabel was introduced to AMWAY products by her mother in Malaysia, who is a customer. “I knew the products were high quality,” she says, “so I tracked down an IBO once I settled down in New York.”

After losing her job as a marketing manager and starting her printing company, she realized that, “I know how to sell, and I believe in these products. I can build an AMWAY business alongside my other business.”

She often finds new customers at chain drugstores. “If I see someone looking at vitamins, I offer samples of NUTRITLITE® Supplements. I spend time reading and researching so I can recommend the right supplements for my customers’ needs.”

Mabel believes that her AMWAY business is the right “prescription” for building a future with more time for her family.

The average monthly gross income earned by “active” IBOs was $115 (U.S.)/$181 (CAN.).

The percentage of IBOs who achieved Double Diamond and above qualification in FY08 was .0038%.

Based on an independent survey during 2001, approximately 66% of all IBOs of record were found to be active. “Active” means an IBO attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway  Independent Business Owner Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended a company or IBO meeting in the year 2000.

“Gross Income” means the amount received from retail sales, minus the cost of goods sold, plus the amount of Performance Bonus retained. There may be significant business expenses, mostly discretionary, that may be greater in relation to income in the first years of operation. The success depicted may reflect income and investments outside the IBO Plan.
