Sergio and Sandy Rivera: Share your Own Experiences and Ideas in Training
When it comes to enthusiasm for people and this business — and a remarkable ability to spark excitement and energy in others through meetings, one-on-one training, and large-group presentations, Founders Diamond Sergio Rivera and daughter Sandy rank high as both teachers and mentors. Together, they presented the New Product Showcase session at Achievers 2009, a course on what Grand Openings are all about and how they can be of benefit to a new IBO’s business. The session was filled with practical, easy-to-follow steps on planning and hosting a Product Showcase or Grand Opening. It included tips on timing, products, demos, samples, and displays. This presentation provided useful information IBO Leaders could apply immediately by sharing it with new IBOs in their group to help them generate new customers, retail sales, and income.
According to Sandy, providing practical tips and useful information is the definition of a good presentation. “I like it when I can come out of a presentation with a couple of things that make me think ‘I’ve got to start doing that!’ and it’s what I always try to incorporate into our presentations. The best training gives you ideas that you can apply instantly.” Sergio adds, “It’s why corporate training that’s developed and presented in tandem with IBO Leaders is so powerful. The Product Showcase session provided plenty of information and we also shared real IBO ideas and experiences. Sandy and I know the fears and challenges of being an IBO. When we present, we aren’t just talking theory, we’re talking about something we do every day, all the time. And that’s important if you want the training to be meaningful and useful.”
The Riveras always recommend new IBOs take the Fast Track Incentive Program course so they can understand the program and make it their first goal when they get started in the business. Sergio also suggests they participate in the Selling 101 training online through the Amway Learning Center. Both Rivera’s agree it’s important as a mentor to steer new IBOs toward specific training available for the products and programs they’re interested in promoting.
Sandy sums it all up with “It is an honor to be affiliated with Amway and to be part of the IBOs around the world who are making a difference. The more ideas and information we share with each other, the better we will all do in the business. That’s success!”
